I love to travel and I love to teach! I teach group music classes for all levels and ages in guitar, vocals, performance, jamming, songwriting and close harmony singing. Book me for your next camp, festival, jamboree, workshop, family gathering… I’ve taught at places like the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, Georgia Straight Music Camp, Beyond Trad Music Camp, California Coast Music Camp, and many private gatherings.

“Gina offered an afternoon “vocal harmony party’”at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. I love to sing harmony; I learned by singing along with recordings, but as an instrumentalist, I have had very little formal vocal training. This “party” was out of my comfort zone, and also one of the cooler things I've ever done. We warmed up with yoga, stretches, and breathing exercises, and then sang Latin syllables(!), a folk song, a 3-song medley in a round, which included a Journey song and some scat, if memory serves…all in about an hour. I enjoyed it and want to do it again!”

Music belongs to all of us. I help families, homeschool parents, educators, and learning communities create meaningful, accessible music experiences—whether you’re starting from scratch, looking to expand an existing program, or simply hoping to bring more music into everyday life.

With degrees in Music Education, Music Performance, and Child Development, and more than a decade of experience teaching in public schools, independent schools, homeschool settings, private lessons, and community music programs, I bring a broad understanding of the many ways people learn and connect through music.

My own musical journey has moved from classical symphonic performance to high school band and choir direction, private teaching, and contemporary music programs where students learn through listening, creativity, collaboration, and exploration. I believe there are many pathways into music, and the most meaningful learning happens when an approach supports the learner, builds confidence, and inspires connection.

I draw from a wide range of music education approaches, including traditional classical methods, solfège, Kodály-inspired practices, and contemporary approaches such as the Music as a Second Language Modern Band method. I am also inspired by folk, old-time, and other community-based aural traditions—music-making traditions where knowledge is carried through people and community, often learned through listening, participation, and shared experience. Notation, solfège, ear learning, traditional methods, and community music are all valuable tools, and the art is knowing what serves the learner best. I adapt these approaches to fit the learner, the setting, and the goals of each community.

Whether you are a parent nurturing a child’s musical interests, a homeschool parent building a music-rich learning experience, a school developing or strengthening a music offering, or an educator looking for fresh ideas and resources, I can help you find practical, creative ways to make music a meaningful part of your environment.
