Music Workshops
Vocal, instrumental, songwriting, performance
I love to travel and I love to teach! I teach group music classes for all levels and ages in jamming, repertoire, guitar, vocal technique, performance, and close harmony singing. Book me for your next camp, festival, jamboree, workshop, family gathering… I’ve taught at places like the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, Georgia Straight Music Camp, Beyond Trad Music Camp, California Coast Music Camp, and many private gatherings, you can read more about some of the classes I’ve taught previously here.
“Gina offered an afternoon “vocal harmony party’”at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. I love to sing harmony; I learned by singing along with recordings, but as an instrumentalist, I have had very little formal vocal training. This “party” was out of my comfort zone, and also one of the cooler things I've ever done. We warmed up with yoga, stretches, and breathing exercises, and then sang Latin syllables(!), a folk song, a 3-song medley in a round, which included a Journey song and some scat, if memory serves…all in about an hour. I enjoyed it and want to do it again!”

Music education consulting. For educators, caregivers and homeschooling families
Music belongs to everyone. I love to share my passion for music education and the many resources and tricks I have hunted and gathered along the way. I have taught instrumental and vocal music in K-12 settings both in public, private and blended homeschool programs, as well as private one:one and group classes for adults, children and multi-generational groups.
I have degrees in Music Education, Music Performance and Child Development, and have dedicated thousands of hours since to my passion: the art of teaching, learning and making music in community. I started as a classical symphonic french horn player, taught high school band and guitar, moved on to directing high school choir, and turned into a folky singer-songwriter who now teaches a contemporary band and vocal program where no one reads music and everyone learns by ear! All have benefits. I have studied formal methods like Kodaly, Orff, Suzuki and Dalcroze, and more informal methods like folk and world music pedagogy and more recently the Music as a Second Language Modern Band Method.
From the very traditional to the very alternative- we can design a plan that’s perfect for you, your child or your school. Let’s chat music education!

individual vocal coaching sessions
Note: as of 2025, I am not currently accepting new bookings- I’m busy recording! I highly recommend Carol Anne Parkinson in Comox.
I offer private 1:1 vocal coaching sessions for professionals and amateurs alike. These are typically short term (1-2 sessions) or sporadic (call me when you need a tune up!) Bring a song you’re working on, a roadblock you’re facing, or a skill you’d like to learn or refine. I’ve helped many singers and songwriters prepare for gigs, recording sessions etc… And also helped amateurs who are preparing for a choral concert or just want to have more fun singing around the campfire and polish up a few songs for fun to sing along with their guitar playing. We will work through the physical and mental preparation and skills that unlock a free, relaxed and resonant tone and make you sound your best. In person or online- I’m nice!
